Ant\u00f3nio Maria Gon\u00e7alves Faria was one of the mythical producers of Bairrada in the 1990s. Wines such as Tonel 5 1990 or Reserva 1991 will be forever engraved in Bairrada’s history. For Dirk Niepoort – who became the distributor of these wines -, being able to work in these magnificent vineyards is an enormous privilege. Year after year, he tries to produce timeless wines, deep and with character, honoring the late Ant\u00f3nio Maria Gon\u00e7alves Faria and his son Jo\u00e3o Pedro, today responsible for the work in the vineyards.
Red wine with a beautiful violet color of slight concentration, the aroma is very fine, deep and complex. Notes of forest fruits in harmony with an intense mineral profile, where the chalky notes jump out of the glass. Although very young, it impresses with its harmony, with silky tannins involved in notes of fresh fruit. With enormous structure and power, the whole set is delicate, elegant and very fine, thanks to the freshness of the fruit and the excellent acidity. Refreshing finish, almost salty and very focused on the limestone terroir. A perfect wine to drink again and feel all its harmony, but which will age with greatness.
We think it is best to try it with dishes with some fat (cod, octopus, black pork) and it goes very well with seafood rice.<\/p>\n
